Muscle strength is what makes a good athlete a great athlete. In
all sports if you are stronger and more physically fit than your
opponent then you have a huge advantage in your sport. Yes,
technique is a large part of all sports, but if you are equal with
your opponent in technique but you are fitter and stronger then you
will have the advantage in the sport. Muscle mass is very easy to
gain it just takes some time and effort froms the athlete. You have
to be willing to set a time daily to do the work. Most young
athletes don't workout much and find it very boring. The young
athletes that do put the time in for fitness and weight are the
ones that are usually a slight bit better then the competition. The
reason for this is because they workout to make themselves better
at the sport they are playing. The sport is constantly on their
mind and they know what they have to do to achieve their goals.
This athlete is usually the athlete that loves to practice and
takes everything when it comes to the sport pretty seriously.
There are also some disadvantages to working out to much. You
can really strain your body if you workout constantly with no rest.
You have to give your body a chance to recover. Some athletes push
themselves to limits that their body cannot handle. Injuries can
come from over doing things in the gym. Some of these injuries can
stick around for long periods of time. Some other athlets workout
to much and gain muscle that isn't needed and then their
performance in the sport goes down. To much muscle leads to slower
speeds, slower reaction time and less aggility. These three
attributes lost can be very detremental to the athlete. To much
muscle mass can lead to many problems with the athletes
preformance.
Many athletes believe that they have to stay in the gym for
hours at a time and this is not true. You don't need to be in the
gym or working out for long periods of time. forty-five minutes to
an hour is enough time to do everything you need to do when it
comes to weight training and fitness. If you find yourself the
bored type when you are working out play some music and workout
with a friend or a teamate. When you have someone who works out
with you it usually is best because they will push you past your
limits and make you work harder. You may be thinking that you do
not have a gym to go to or a place to workout. Well my friends you
don't need all the equipment that gyms have to workout. You can
always stick to all the things you did in gym class. Push-ups,
sit-ups, pull-ups, squats, leg extentions. All of these things can
be done in the comfort of your own home or outside. We are
currently putting together a few workout programs that can benefit
the youth that do not have equipment or a place to go. These
programs will be online very shortly.
Fitness is the key to many great athletes success. If you look
at the many professional athletes who are excelling in their sport
they got there from hard work and from putting in the time after
all the practices and games. Do you have what it takes to be an
athlete who just wants to be the best at the sport you play. Many
athletes want it bad but just do not do the extra that can make
them great. Once you get into a routine with working out you will
never want to miss a day. Push yourself to be better than the many
other athletes that you compete against.
